RuqyaH
What Is RuqyaH?
Ruqyah is the practice of seeking healing through the recitation of specific verses from the Quran and supplications taught by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It is a method used to treat various afflictions, including ailments caused by jinn, the evil eye, and black magic (sihr). Ruqyah is deeply rooted in Islamic tradition and is a form of spiritual remedy that reinforces one's connection with Allah (SWT).
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: "Make use of two cures: honey and the Quran."
— [Sahih Ibn Majah, 3452]
At Rosenberg Masjid & Islamic Center, we emphasize the importance of Ruqyah as a spiritual means to protect and heal our community, while always maintaining trust in Allah (SWT) and avoiding any form of shirk (associating partners with Allah). Ruqyah serves as a reminder that our ultimate source of healing lies in Allah's words and guidance.
Signs of Affliction
Afflictions caused by witchcraft (sihr/jadoo), jinn, or the evil eye (ayn/nazar) can manifest in various physical, emotional, and mental symptoms. Some common signs to be aware of include:
1. Physical Symptoms: Persistent, unexplained illnesses such as severe headaches, digestive problems, infertility, or skin conditions (e.g., eczema, hair loss) can indicate witchcraft or jinn interference. These conditions may not respond to medical treatment, and doctors may find no clear cause for the symptoms.
2. Emotional and Mental Symptoms: Sudden and intense mood changes, feelings of depression, anxiety, or confusion without a clear reason are common indicators. The afflicted person may experience constant negative thoughts or mental blockages, making it difficult to focus or make decisions.
3. Unusual Behavior or Reactions: A person may begin to speak or act in ways that are not typical for them. This can include excessive anger, withdrawal from family, or erratic behavior. In some cases, the individual may feel they are being controlled or manipulated by an outside force.
4. Dreams and Nightmares: Dreams involving snakes, graves, or dead people are often seen as signs of witchcraft or jinn possession. Persistent nightmares, especially involving being chased, bitten by animals, or trapped, may point to spiritual afflictions.
5. Strained Relationships: Afflictions may also manifest in personal relationships, particularly between spouses. Frequent and unexplainable arguments, loss of affection, or difficulty in sexual relations can be a sign of magic meant to create discord between loved ones.
6. Unexplained Fatigue: If a person feels constant fatigue or lethargy, even after adequate sleep, this can be a sign of affliction. They may also feel heavy or experience unusual pain in different parts of the body without a medical explanation.
If these signs persist despite efforts to resolve them, Ruqyah may be a beneficial remedy to seek Quranic healing and relief from these afflictions.
